    Suggestions

  • Drink: Bloody Mary (per recipe or your favorite)
  • Serving suggestion: Take a cup of coffee to dad, along with the newspaper. Make sure his slippers and bathrobe are handy too. Back in the kitchen, set a tray with a nice cloth on it, a little bowl of jelly, and a fork and steak knife.

    Game Plan:

  • When you get out of bed
    • Take the steak out of the refrigerator
    • Put the oven rack about 3-inches from the heat element
    • Turn on the broiler

    • Get out Tools
    • Assemble the ingredients
  • Prep
    • Crack 3 eggs into a bowl. Whisk in a pinch of salt and a pinch of pepper.
    • Put the cherries into a nice bowl. Cover them with water, add several ice cubes, and refrigerate.
    • Wash a stalk of celery, and cut a piece that is about 6-inches long.
    • Have mom make the Bloody Mary – it’s easy. Put 1 oz. vodka in a nice, tall glass. Fill it two-thirds with tomato juice. Add a dash each of Worcestershire Sauce and Tabasco. Stir in about 1/4 tsp. horseradish, then a sprinkling of celery salt. Taste it mom – if it’s good, put the piece of celery in it and refrigerate.
    • Rub the steak with 1 tbsp. olive oil, and put it in the roasting pan. Sprinkle it with salt and pepper.
  • Start Cooking
    • Put the steak under the broiler. It will take 6-8 minutes to broil, total (if dad likes his steak rare).
    • Put 1 tbsp. olive oil into the frying pan and put it over medium heat.
    • Put 4 slices of bread in the toaster.
    • When the oil is hot but not smoking pour the eggs into the pan, add a few shots of Tabasco, and stir them.
    • Turn the steak.. Get mom to help you if it’s too hot.
    • Stir the eggs again. If they’re nearly solid, remove the skillet from the heat. The eggs will keep cooking in the hot pan. Taste them to see if they’re salty enough, and add more salt if necessary.
    • Drain the cherries.
    • The bread is toasted, so butter it.
    • Stack the toast and slice it on the diagonal. Put it on a small plate.
    • Remove the steak from the broiler and put it on a plate. Put the eggs next to the steak.
    • Put the Bloody Mary on the tray with the bowl of cherries, the toast, and the steak and eggs. If the tray is too heavy, get some help. And don’t forget more hot coffee!!!!
  • Wow that was fast, happy father’s day!
